Do Cheap scales really save you money ? Counting scales offer a reliable consistant means of coounting variable quantities to your customers, however there are one or two points to consider.

A) The value of items being counted
B) The piece weight of the smallest and largest part, and varience of piece to piece variance
C) Acceptable loss (how many over or underacounts will you accept)
D) Internal resolution

The main Points A,B,C relate to the internal resolution or computing processor used, for example 30,000 divisions 30Kg x 1g. What this doesn't tell you is its accuracy when counting.

A scales Internal resolution always determines its overall accuracy when counting. Internal resolution is the most important factor to consider when buying a counting scale.

Many confuse readability and resolution, but it is the combination of BOTH, to measure the variance of piece to piece weight (STD) of your components.

For example if your parts cost 5P to produce and you lose 1% per count. On a count of 1000 that equates to £0.50p per box. It may not sound a great deal of money, but if on average there was 10 boxes a day or £1300.00 over a year.

It may never be quite as bad as that in our example, but it is certainly worth giving thought to when considering the payback on your investment

Counting Scales show Internal Resolution simply because it is the most important factor when buying a counting scale. this is the mathematical calculation used to display the count to ensure that the results are accurate.

Payback Cost of scales - in weighing you really get what you pay for, low cost units offer great bargains, but often need re calibrating more because of their construction when compared to die cast units and the type of weighing cell installed.

Finally Average Piece Weight Enhancement (APW) for short, this basically allows you to take a sample of say 10, than add more and the scale re calculate the sample weight - ideal for building up the referece sample where the component weight is very small or variable APW (plastic components)
