We cannot give a 100% guide but here are some suggestions
Select the division size or {e} division size appropriate for place of use and be stable.
Select the pan size to suit the product sizes followed by normal capacity plus a safe overload
If you have a specific application i.e Counting, Label printing etc, can you do the set up, or would you like us to help
Who will set up & calibration of the equipment to UK standards
Q - Why do you check calibrations prior to dispatch, all scales are the same aren't they ?
It's important to test Scales prior to use due to gravitational influences of the scales being used in a different place to the original FACTORY calibration for the UK.
The calibration sticker shows the scales confirms the manufacturers specification from day 1
Q - I need approved trade scales for buying and selling goods by weight.
All scales need to be supplied approved for Retail Buying & selling of goods under the Non -Automatic weighing regulation 2016
The allowable error on approved scales is only 2 approved divisions
Q - My product is not heavy but exceeds the current platform by about 50% is it still ok to use
Our advice is to use a scale that can accommodate the product such that their is no overhang as this can affect the results
Standard Scale accuracy is based on the platform size or may damage the scales
Q- I bought a second hand scale is it ok to use in my clothes / sweet shop
You need to see if it is still approved for trade for your application for when was it made ?
You may need to check with your local trading standards that the unit is still legal (some scales can be 20 years old !!)
Check calibration with certified weights before use (not bags of sugar)
When were they last tested ? - if not in last year we reccommend getting them checked before buying
Scales from Auction sites are really cheap but may need to be checked in order to verify all of the above.
Q - How often should my scales be calibrated ?
Usually once a year but really depends on how often the unit is used / stored or moved about can cause calibration issues
Increase calibration check for scales at Critical control points if necessary, and check between visits
Q - Are all scales the same
No they can use different technologies and therefore affects overall accuracy, repeatability and cost
