Weighing Terms and Technologies

Division size - This is the smallest division size the display will show to meet your tolerances.

Repeatability - The ability to repeat the value over succesive weighings.

Minimum weight - The minimum weight is the smallest amount a balance can weigh.

Capacity - The capacity is the maximum Gross weight the scale will weigh

Calibration - Factory calibration are adjusted for UK postcode due to effect of altitude.

Platform size - This is the maximum size that you can weigh goods.

Dual Range - Some manufaturers producer dual range scales enabling a fine / coarse division

Analogue Strain Gauge Sensor

Applying load to Strain Gauge analoge cell affixed metal makes gauge’s resister value change by metal strain. Strain Gauge type sensor measures the change of resister value then converts into weight value. This gives enormous difference in scale performance, such as resolution, stability and repeatability, but dependant on quality of the components used and reflected in the price. OIML versions are used in trade approved applications.

Digital Tuning Fork sensor

Vibration frequency changes against the application of load to two piece coupled Tuning Fork. Scale measures this frequency change then convert to the weight value. Stress-strain of the Tuning Fork is 1/10th and its output sensitivity is 50 times of Strain Gauge Sensors

Digital Electromagnetic Sensor / Hybrid weigh cells.

Electromagnetic force / Hybrid cellsmeasure the current flown in the coil to determine weight value and convert it to a digital value . It is suitable for high accuracy (high resolution) measurement.
