Industrial Balances can be used as counting scales, where precision accurate counting is required, many scales have this function available based on the operator placing a small sample on the weigh pan (5,10,etc) then confirming the quantity, the scale computes the average piece weight (APW) and display the count additional items are then added to meet the packing requirements.
We recommend you seek some assistance or try the components on one of our scales prior to purchase, in order to select the best performing scales for your application.
Basic counting scales rely on the weight to perform the calculation, often referred to the resolution, for example 3000g x 1g the repeatability is normally 1g, however all piece weights are not always the same, and may require a more sensitive division size in order to compute the piece weight more accurately.
Modern equipment incorporates processor chips which mutiply the APW weight by a factor of between 30,000 - 100, 000 , which allows for a more accurate determination of the piece weight. Some models have a feature called "automatic APW re calculation" in the scales, this is very useful where plastic parts or components that have a variable piece weight.
The operation is very simple simply establish the initial APW count , then add up to one less than the display the scale then re calculates the piece weight to give a more accurate couint, this can be repeated up to the limit within a particular model
If you are unsure about a particular model we can test the items for you prior to purchase, please contact us directly or send us a sample you want to count. (items can be returned with scales purchased).
